Biography

Alexander Galt Ross (1860–1927); critic and businessman. Brother of Robert Ross, journalist, critic, and Oscar Wilde's friend and executor. Appointed Secretary of the Society of Authors in January 1885 when J. T. Tristram-Valentine stepped down, becoming Honorary Secretary in 1887 (alongside James Stanley Little as Executive Secretary), a position he held until 1888 when he joined the Committee of Management.
