Biography

H. D. Traill (1842–1900; Oxford DNB); satirist and journalist. Contributed to newspapers including The Observer, the Pall Mall Gazette, the St James's Gazette, the Saturday Review and the Daily Telegraph. Editor of The Observer, 1889–1891; editor of Literature from 1897 until his death. Also published volumes of satirical verse.
