George Augustus Sala (1828–1895; Oxford DNB); journalist. Novelist, foreign correspondent and leader writer, publishing in periodicals and newspapers including Household Words, All The Year Round, the Illustrated London News and the Daily Telegraph. Appointed a Vice-President of the Society of Authors.
