Biography
Basil Field (1834–1908); solicitor. Advised the Society of Authors throughout the 1880s, 1890s and 1900s, the firm (Field, Roscoe & Co.) continuing to act as solicitors to the Society after Field's death. Formed part of the Society's deputation to Government about the Berne Convention in 1886. Also advised the Royal Academy of Arts in the 1880s.
