Biography

Sir Gilbert Parker, baronet (1860–1932; Oxford DNB); novelist and politician. Born in Canada, he emigrated to Australia before settling in Britain. Became Conservative MP for Gravesend in 1900. Wrote for the Sydney Morning Herald, becoming associate editor. Also published poetry, plays and novels, primarily about the Canadian north.
